In a landmark breakthrough, the negotiations for the ‘mother of all deals‘ concluded successfully today. The talks over the free-trade agreement had started in 2007; however, negotiations were relaunched in 2022.

EU, too, holds FTA in high esteem

The India-EU FTA is being viewed as the key agreement by the European Union as well. The EU Trade Commissioner Marcos Sefcovic called it the largest trade deal ever, highlighting that around 6,000 European companies already operate in India amid trade surge between the two partners in the last ten years.

He said that the deal will build a free trade area encompassing nearly two billion people and lift many Indian customs duties on European goods.
